"Signal Peak" painting
This is a painting I did of Signal Peak located about four miles northeast of Gunnison and a well known landmark. In the foreground is what is called by the locals the old Wilson corral located in a stand of cottonwood trees. The old corral is about one hundred yards from the Holiday Inn Express Hotel on the east edge of Gunnison just off Highway 50. It is said the Indians that once lived in the Gunnison Valley had lookouts posted on the peak and that would send smoke signals to other Indians in the valley if possible danger was approaching the area down the valley from the east. This painting is 11X14 in size and on canvas board. (SOLD)
